THE NEWLY RESTORED HÔTEL D’ELBÉE OPENS FOR BUSINESS

ARTICLE PUBLISHED 4 July 2016 IN THE OUEST FRANCE NEWSPAPER

Like something out of a storybook, two fairy godmothers have been hard at work overhauling the décor and layout while preserving the architecture and historic character of the building. In realising their vision, interior designer Chantal Peyrat and creative director Claudie Frelon successfully navigated the task of “transcending this history and delivering a touch of whimsy that would bring it all together”, Vincent Lebouteiller explains.

NOIRMOUTIER: A NIGHT AND SO MUCH MORE AT THE GÉNÉRAL D’ELBÉE

EXPERT REVIEW: BLOGGER GILLES PUDLOWSKI VISITS THE HOTEL.

The hotel has experienced a sort of rebirth under the leadership of Claudie Frelon, a native of Challans, who took charge of modernising the building without sacrificing its old-fashioned charm.

The gentle colours, soft lighting, historical paintings, luxurious rooms and suites (26 in all), Nuxe spa and swimming pool in the patio will charm any visitor to this beautiful, newly reborn establishment.

A NEW LOOK FOR THE GÉNÉRAL D’ELBÉE

THE FIRST-EVER MENTION OF THE GÉNÉRAL D’ELBÉE IN THE COURRIER VENDÉEN NEWSPAPER.

Before the renovations could begin, all the furnishings had to be removed from the building. That is why we held an estate sale at the hotel in November. We wanted everyone to leave with a little memento of the Général d’Elbée.

The hotel is part of the landscape, but many people had never set foot inside. All the attendees were thoroughly pleased with the event.

The atmosphere was imbued with the spirit of the generals of that by-gone era. As soon as they entered, visitors were greeted by immense paintings depicting Charette, Trémouilles and d’Elbée.
